More than eighteen years later, Rhode Island residents can still recall the harrowing events of February 20, 2003, and the tragedy that became known as The Station nightclub fire. As hundreds of concert-goers gathered at a small venue in West Warwick, joy turned to grief as an accidental pyrotechnics malfunction sparked a blaze that consumed the club in minutes. One hundred souls passed in the ensuing disaster, including eighteen-year-old Nicholas O’Neill, the youngest among them. But the fire would not be the final word in his story, as Nicky’s life continues to move and inspire.
In an award-winning documentary from filmmakers Christian O'Neill (Nicky's brother) and Christian de Rezendes, 41 captures the brilliance of Nicky’s young life, packed full with prolific writing, composing, acting, and an obsession with the number 41.
But the film also chronicles the remarkable things that happened - and continue to happen - after the deadly fire took Nicky's life in 2003. These accounts detail the many ways in which his influence lives on with family and friends - even strangers.
