Mike Rossi admits the definition of ‘antique’ can sometimes be a matter of interpretation. That’s why he is out to share expertise and insight into interpreting antiques in his new series, Antiques with Mike Rossi. Look for the premiere Sunday, November 1 at 7 p.m. on Rhode Island PBS.
As a licensed auctioneer, antiques store manager, and antiquities collector, Rossi brings a unique insider perspective to his series. A television veteran with more than 25 years of broadcast experience, he writes, shoots, and edits the show, too.
In this new series from the creator of Antiques Alley and East Coast Antiques, Mike presents items to antiques dealers, who each describe an object, explore its history and value, and suggest what can be done with it, including selling it and where. The professionals share their wisdom earned through years of experience and study, and imparting expertise and insight not found elsewhere on television.
Mike says he also hopes to inspire a younger generation of collectors.
“In a throw-away culture, the connection is broken between an object and a special family member or happy childhood memory. When we lose those connections, we also lose part of our heritage, our relationships with each other and with the past,” Mike observes.
Antiques with Mike Rossi helps remind us of the importance of making and keeping those connections.
