Rhode Island PBS is pleased to announce that, starting January 2024, New England journalists Ted Nesi and Anaridis Rodriguez will join as contributors to the locally produced series Rhode Island PBS Weekly and Generation Rising.
Ted Nesi, WPRI 12 politics editor and investigative reporter, will connect with the Rhode Island PBS Weekly team for their new, recurring segment, Weekly Insight. Co-host of WPRI 12's long-running show Newsmakers and author of the weekly column Nesi’s Notes, Nesi is a New England Emmy® Award recipient for investigative reporting and shares multiple Edward R. Murrow Awards. He has moderated more than 50 televised debates for offices ranging from county sheriff to U.S. Senate, and his work has been cited nationally.
“At a time when local news is under threat across the country, our region is blessed to have public media institutions that are investing and expanding," Nesi said. "I'm excited to be joining the team at Rhode Island PBS Weekly as we strive to help viewers make sense of what's behind the daily headlines."
Rhode Island PBS Weekly, an Emmy award-winning newsmagazine, is anchored in truth-seeking journalism that examines today’s most important regional and local issues. In the segment, WeeklyInsight, co-host and reporter Michelle San Miguel will engage in dynamic discussions with Nesi, who will provide expert analysis on matters affecting southern New England, from politics to education. The first segment premieres on January 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Anaridis Rodriguez, an award-winning bilingual reporter, will assume the role of host for Generation Rising. She comes to Rhode Island PBS with more than a decade of journalism experience. Most recently, she spent five years as an anchor and reporter at CBS News Boston. Rodriguez covered the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 presidential election. She was a trusted leader within the community, shedding light on systemic inequalities in education and criminal justice, and was a recipient of a NATAS Boston/New England Emmy® Award.

Generation Rising, a thought-provoking interview series, aims to be a platform for diverse communities in Rhode Island and southern New England. Each episode features in-depth conversations with academics and community leaders who share their insights on how they are pushing society toward change. The second season premieres on January 5 at 7:30 p.m., featuring an interview with Dr. Omar Bah from the Refugee Dream Center in Providence.
