After more than four decades of an incredible career, Norm Abram, This Old House’s Master Carpenter and pioneer of the home improvement television genre, will hang up his toolbelt. Highlighting and chronicling 43 years of Norm's work, The House That Norm Built sends Norm off in style. The one-hour tribute premieres Monday, October 10 at 10 p.m. on WSBE Rhode Island PBS.
From a trip with his dad, a Boston carpenter, in 1958 to install hardwood floors, to being discovered by This Old House creator, Russell Morash, 20 years later, Norm's inspiration has reached far and wide. A humble man who became a national celebrity through his uncompromising craftsmanship, he appeared in more than 1,000 episodes of This Old House since its premiere in 1979, worked on more than 50 home renovation projects, and hosted more than 280 episodes of The New Yankee Workshop.
Featuring classic moments, archived footage, interviews, and memories from celebrities, friends, peers, and those who worked alongside him, The House That Norm Built honors the living legend and his trusted expertise.
