Our Town is a documentary project where neighbors and friends become filmmakers to tell the stories of their community.
The purpose of Our Town is to share the charm and character of Rhode Island’s towns and villages – particularly the untold stories that capture the essence of life there. Local storytellers and videographers are invited to choose their own subjects, capturing a town’s unique history and culture from the perspective of those who know it best. Rhode Island PBS is an open resource throughout the production process, and will ultimately stitch the stories together in a one-hour film.
Part fundraiser, part community builder, part documentary film, and part “day-in-the-life” scrapbook, Our Town offers a collection of local legends, historical events, and personal memoirs from the tight-knit community of Rhode Island.
