With colorful seasons and a hardy growing climate, Rhode Island is ripe for farming and agriculture. This month, visit the farms, vineyards, and orchards that labor to bring fresh produce to markets across the Ocean State.
Harvesting Rhode Island explores an assortment of locations from across the local farming industry, sharing the stories of farmers who have lived and worked there for generations. Along the way, viewers can learn more about the crops, ingredients, and homemade goods available at each stop – some of which may be grown right around the corner.
Episodes from the fourth season of Harvesting Rhode Island air Fridays at 10 p.m., starting on July 9. Packed with a variety of organic growers, garden suppliers, wineries, and dairy farms, this series showcases Rhode Island's thriving farm-to-table scene.

94 Brown Ave. Johnston, RI
This Johnston farm has been in the Dame family for seven generations. Originally purchased in the 1890s, Dame Farm & Orchards turned its first profits from dairy cows and apple trees. Now, the Dames offer a variety of homegrown fruits and vegetables, as well as an assortment of flowers and plants at their farm stand.
56 Elmdale Rd. North Scituate, RI
Founded in 1930, the Barden Family Orchard has a long and storied tradition of apple growing. This family-owned farm grows its own Cortland, McIntosh, and Macoun apples, as well as peaches, sweetcorn, pumpkins, and squash. It offers pick-your-own raspberries and blueberries, and its farm stand shelves are lined with honey, granola, salsa, and homemade jam.

Established in 2008, Big Train Farm is guided by the core principles of organic growing. With a large Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) contingent, Big Train offers more than forty varieties of annual crops including strawberries and blueberries.
50 Swan Rd. Smithfield, RI
Jaswell’s Farm has a proud heritage that dates back to 1899. Located in the historic “apple valley” of Smithfield, this family-owned farm grows a wealth of crops including apples, blueberries, summer squash, sweet corn, cucumbers, and peppers. With its own farm stand and bakery, Jaswell’s offers freshly brewed and baked goods like cider, pies, pastries, and gourmet muffins.

Established in 2007, this family-owned vineyard produces about 2,000 cases of premium wine each year. Complete with a winery and tasting room, the Nickle Creek family pairs local, homegrown quality with a quaint and friendly atmosphere.
55 Victory Hwy. Chepachet, RI
Founded by the Pagliarini family in 1936, Central Nursery offers landscaping and construction services along with a large assortment of trees, bushes, and plants. Owned and operated by three brothers, this all-encompassing gardening supplier has an additional location in Johnston, RI.

15 Lantern Rd. Lincoln, RI
Spanning five acres of planting space, Angell Farm has 3,600 square feet of greenhouses and an additional eighteen acres nearby. This CSA-friendly farm brings an abundance of crops to market, including tomatoes, onions, beets, cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers, turnips, and radish.

Established in 2007, Our Kids Farm includes five acres of growing space and farm store that operates year-round. With seven greenhouses and a variety of planting areas, Our Kids Farm offers a wide range of hydroponic vegetables, annuals, and floral baskets.
