What do you do when your marriage and family are on the brink of falling apart? You take them on holiday, of course.
Adapted from author David Nicholls’ best-selling novel, Us on Masterpiece follows Tom Hollander (Baptiste, The Night Manager) and Saskia Reeves (Luther) as Douglas and Connie Peterson, a couple with twenty years of marriage under their belt.
Before the Petersons get ready to embark on a grand European tour – their last hurrah before son Albie heads off to art school – Connie announces that she wants to leave her and Douglas’ marriage. Determined to change his ways and change Connie’s mind, Douglas convinces his family to go through with their trip.
Described by Tom Hollander as “a rom-com in reverse,” Us is a bittersweet tale of hope that will take viewers among cafés, canals, and narrow cobblestone streets as Douglas tries to preserve his marriage and his idea of “us.”
Us will air in two parts on WSBE Rhode Island PBS, with the first airing Thursday, July 8 at 9 p.m. and the second airing on Thursday, July 15 at 9 p.m.
