The Wildlife Center of Virginia is one of the world’s leading teaching and research hospitals in wildlife and conservation medicine. In the series UNTAMED, go behind-the-scenes at the Center, where diagnosing and treating the injuries of wildlife patients is just the beginning of its investigative and conservation work.
Hosted by Ed Clark, President and Co-Founder of the Wildlife Center, UNTAMED focuses on a variety of wildlife issues, drawn from the stories of the animals that end up on the Center’s doorstep each year.
Wildlife rehabilitators and veterinarians share an unprecedented look at their work as they strive to illustrate a bigger picture of the issues wildlife face. Addressing harmful factors such as litter, pesticides, free-roaming domestic animals, habitat loss, and diseases, UNTAMEDchallenges viewers to take action to protect wildlife.
In season one, episode one of UNTAMED, black bears receiving care at the Center are the focus. With guidance from the Wildlife Center staff members, see what it’s like to care for black bear cubs, hear how the Center is working to understand and treat mange in wild bear populations, and learn what one should do if they ever encounter a black bear in need of help.
